Rams 49ers Australia
Rams 49ers Australia, behind-the-scenes tv crew story come back for the rest of the story hobo style
For Rams–49ers at the MCG in Melbourne, Netflix is carrying the game, and the NFL has moved an enormous amount of equipment and personnel into Australia — about 59 tons of equipment/personnel, including chartered cargo aircraft.
So yes, they absolutely brought a major production operation with them. The really interesting Hobo Tech question is what came over from the U.S. versus what they hired locally in Melbourne — especially cameras, operators, mobile unit/truck, audio and engineering.
Here’s what we can establish:
What did they ship?
The NFL shipped about27 tons of additional equipment by sea, with another32 tons of team cargotraveling with the Rams and 49ers. The sea shipment left inApril, so this operation has been underway for months.
NFL truck or NEP?
This is the part Icannot verify yet. The public reporting identifies the NFL’s enormous production operation and Netflix broadcast, but I haven’t found a reliable source naming the mobile unit provider asNEPor identifying a specific production truck. I don’t want to tell you NEP just because it sounds right.
Full crew?
The NFL hadmore than 200 NFL staff in Melbourne, including media-production people, and people have been working at the MCG forweeks. The overall planning started nearlytwo years ago.
Local Australian crew?
This is the really interesting unanswered question. The sources I’ve found don’t give me a reliable breakdown ofU.S. camera operators vs. Australian operators, engineers, audio, utilities, etc.
And that’s exactly the mtprodstv story:
When the NFL takes a game 8,000 miles from home, what actually travels with it—and what does Australia provide?
I think we should dig specifically into the mobile unit, camera crew, and Australian production vendors next. That’s where the good stuff is.
